Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved a draft law for the amendment and completion of the Moldovan Contravention Code. The amendments will help prevent the committing of contraventions by increasing sanctions, diminishing corruption risks in case of contraventions imposed to drivers, as well as remove the infringement of person’s constitutional rights.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the new amendments see that the fine is doubled for false alerts at specialized services, so that guilty people will pay up to 3,000 lei, against 1,500 lei at present.

Also, those who cause disturbance of peace as of 18:00 till 8:00 will be punished too. So far, only people who were making noise on the period 22:00-7:00 have been punished.

As a result of the changes, persons who violated the law will pay a half of the fine established in three working days, not in 72 hours, as till present, in order to clear up situations when the infringement was committed on days-off. For some contraventions, drivers who are to pay the fine in three days will not be imposed penalty points.

At the same time, the process of ascertaining contraventions will be simplified. If the person recognized his/her fault or no evidence is needed to be accumulated any longer, the ascertaining agent will not compile an official report and the sanction will be imposed based on a decision.

The amendments also provide for tougher sanctions for abuses committed by parents or legal representatives against children, as well as for attempting against health. Also, the members of the college decision-taking bodies could be called to account for allowing infringements in their work.
