Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Clients of the commercial bank Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) will have access to financial resources on easy terms due to a bilateral agreement signed between MAIB and the government of Belarus. Under the accord, people residing in Moldova will be able to benefit from loans for a period of up to five years, to buy agricultural equipments and industrial products produced in Belarus.

To boost the bilateral trade, the Belarusian government will compensate the interest paid by beneficiaries at the size of basic rate established by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), but not more than six per cent annually.

“The basic goal of the agreement is to foster the economic cooperation between Moldova and Belarus through facilitating the acquisition of goods produced in this country. Taking into account the specific character of the Moldovan-Belarusian cooperation, we believe that the agreement will back agricultural producers, as well as ones from the industrial sector, who will have possibility to buy technology in convenient conditions, given that the interest will be partially compensated by the Belarusian side,” MAIB Chairman Serghei Cebotari said.

Cebotari noted that “MAIB is the first bank of Moldova which signs an agreement of this kind with the Belarusian cabinet, which proves once again the reliability MAIB enjoys and the bank’s importance for Moldova’s economic development.”

Moldova Agroindbank is the leader of the banking market from Moldova, with a market share of about 30 per cent in the most important indicators. The bank’s physical distribution network comprises 66 branches and 120 agencies, with a coverage all over Moldova.
