Family Justice Centres to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - Family Justice Centres will be created in Moldova. The institutions will organized according to the American model and will have to goal to provide complex assistance to domestic violence victims.   

Data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry shows that, at the centres, domestic violence victims will benefit from social, legal, psychological assistance, as well as other support services.    

According to the ministry, the goal of the Family Justice Centre is to prevent cases of violence through providing specialized consultancy to residents members of risks groups and to provide services on the platform of multidisciplinary cooperation. Specialists from diverse sectors, such as justice, social assistance and probation, will work at the centres.    

The creation of Family Justice Centres fits into the objectives set by Moldova in the new national strategy of prevention and combating the violence against women and domestic violence for 2018-2023.  

Official statistics data shows that, in 2017, 762 women (of whom 59 girls and 45 women older than 50) became victims of the domestic violence.
