Moldova, Romania might exclude tariffs of roaming

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ – The developments within implementation of projects of Moldova – Romania energy interconnection were examined by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, and Romanian Economy Minister, Danut Andrusca, paying a visit to Moldova today. The officials also discussed the possibility of eliminating roaming tariffs between Moldova and Romania, similar to EU practice, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, noted these projects' special significance for ensuring energy security of Moldova. The main emphasis on it is on achieving as short as possible extension of Iasi – Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau. In this context, Pavel Filip welcomed once again privatisation decision by Eurotransgaz SRL (with sole founder of SNTGN Transgaz SA) of the Vestmoldtransgaz.

The officials referred to four stages of project implementation: fulfillment of suspensive conditions, reorganisation of Transgaz, procurement procedures and commencement of construction works, no later than September 2018. Currently, authorities are on last hundred metres in regarding realisation of suspensive conditions into privatisation contract. "It is essential to meet deadlines. This is a soul project for me," mentioned in the context the Minister of Economy of Romania.

The parties also spoke about interconnection of the two countries' power systems. Related to it, it was revealed the importance of dynamising collaboration with Romanian company Transelectrica.

Some other priority projects are aimed at eliminating roaming charges, construction of a motorway, as well as railway infrastructure linking Moldova and Romania. The Initiative of roaming tariff removal is to be discussed at the next joint meeting of the Chisinau and Bucharest Governments. "So people would feel clear messages of approach," said Pavel Filip.

The PM reiterated his gratitude for assistance provided by Romania, noting that Moldova has taken over successful experience of neighbouring state within implementation of programme "Prima Casa" (First home) and introduction of meal vouchers, while Minister Danut Andrusca also assured all support in perspectives.
