Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - Owners of farmlands placed beyond the Rabnita-Tiraspol highway will receive compensations for the losses inflicted in 2017-2018, in the wake of impossibility to till their lands. The cabinet today approved a decision to this effect, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The money will be earmarked from the government’s reserve fund, in form of direct payments, worth 1,229.68 lei per one hectare. Thus, for the period 2017-2018, the mayoralty of the Cocieri village will receive 4.02 million lei, the Cosnita village mayoralty – 2.68 million lei and the Dorotcaia village mayoralty – 6.82 million lei. Also, support will be provided to farmers from Molovata Noua, worth 1.12 million lei and the ones of the Parata village, worth 1.3 million lei.

The means allocated to the mayoralties, amounting to about 16 million lei in all, are to be distributed based on a regulation worked out and approved by local councils. The allocations will allow covering payment for leasing, which would have been offered by leaseholder in the case of tilling the lands and will contribute to the development of settlements from the security zone. Similar compensations were provided in the previous years as well.

It is worth mentioning that the farmers from the Dubasari district have not had access to their lands placed beyond the Rabnita-Tiraspol highway since 2014. Following negotiations held between Chisinau and Tiraspol, the access to the farmlands was re-established for a period of 20 years, starting from 1 August 2018.
