Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES – The candidate for the Chisinau mayor office on behalf of the SHOR party, Reghina Apostolova, today was definitively excluded from the electoral race.
The Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) today declared the appeal submitted by the SHOR party as inadmissible.
The decision was taken, after the decision by the judges of the Court of Appeal had been appealed by the lawyers of Apostolova at CSJ.
The ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice is irrevocable and cannot be subjected to any appeal.
Both the first instance court and the Court of Appeal have recently ruled to exclude the candidate of the SHOR party from the electoral race.
The application on the exclusion from the electoral race of the candidate was submitted to court by the Chisinau District Electoral Council. The latter admitted a notification by the National Unity Party on the illegal financing by foreign citizens of the candidate of the SHOR party. Also, Reghina Apostolova was accused of having used the picture of a foreign citizen in an electoral spot.
Reghina Apostolova and her lawyers rejected the blames and described the judges’ ruling as illegal. Eleven candidates remained in the race for the Chisinau mayor office after the exclusion of Reghina Apostolova.
