Moldova joins Programme for Combating Terrorism of Commonwealth of Independence States

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - The decree on the promulgation, as well as the law on Moldova joining the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on the amendment of the regulation on the council of interior ministers of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be published in the 18 May issue of Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).   

The goal of the programme is to extend and strengthen the level of cooperation of the CIS member states in the prevention, discovery, counteraction and following terrorist and extremist acts, coordinated carrying out of operative measures of investigation and special operations on prophylactic purposes, informative and scientific collaboration, cooperation in training staff, improving the skills of specialists, cooperation with competent international organizations, etc.      

The actions provided for in this document are based on the provisions of the agreement on cooperation of the CIS member states in fighting terrorism, signed  in Minsk on 4 June 1999 and the concept of cooperation of the CIS member states in fighting terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism, adopted by the CIS Council of Heads of State on 26 August 2005.  

During the next months, the government will undertake needed measures for carrying out of the provisions of the programme. At the same time, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry will notify the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Moldova joining the aforementioned decision.
