Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - The authorities of the breakaway Moldovan Transnistrian republic are not prepared for the negotiations on the political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, expected in Chisinau. Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselsky made statements to this effect at a meeting with lawmakers of the so-called supreme soviet of the region today.

‘’Presently, we cannot launch the so-called third basket, speaking about a certain political settlement. Nobody is ready for this,’’ Krasnoselsky said. He also stressed that ‘’in Chisinau, there is no a unitary position on the Transnistrian problem settlement.’’

At the same time, Krasnoselsky warned about laws adopted by Moldova’s parliament, which, according to him, hinder the talks. The leader of the breakaway Transnistrian Moldovan republic also reminded about the referendum from 2006, held in Tiraspol, which determined independence from Chisinau and rapprochement with Russia. ‘’I have no right to speak about any political status within Moldova, either it is about a special status or it is about a federation. If the people gives another opinion or the law will be changed, then yes,’’ Krasnoselsky added.

According to him, Tiraspol is ready to discuss the removal of obstacles to the sectors dealing with communications, transport, banking system, to settle other social and economic issues, which would be able to improve the life of ordinary people.

The next meeting in the 5+2 format of negotiations will take place in Rome on 29-30 May 2018.
