European Night of Museums held in square of parliament of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ – Dozens of visitors hosted the Square of Parliamet last night when it was celebrated the European Night of Museums. For the second consecutive year, the Parliament of Moldova exhibited vintage cars and organised exhibitions on this occasion, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

There were exposed two vintage cars from garage of Parliament to public. Zil 41047, black, was produced in 1989 in Moscow, being latest Soviet car produced without limits of budget and technology. At that time it was longest limousine in the world. Totally, there were produced 190 cars of this brand. The vehicle has a dual petrol and electricity supply system. The limousine in garage of Parliament was used to produce a Russian film in 2006.

Ciaika Gaz 14, also black, was produced in 1987 in ex – USSR. Totally, there were produced 1,120 cars of this brand. Among special amenities of car include automatic box, air conditioning system as well as permanent telephone connection throughout the USSR provided by former KGB. The car has a total of 120,000 km.

Also, in front of Parliament building, it was exhibition containing photos of children participating in contest "EU sunt EUropa". The contest organised by the Parliament was attended by pupils from the secondary schools and high schools all over the country, which expressed with pictures what it means to be European.

Also, it was presented exhibition "Parliament in 27 files", carried out by photographers accredited to Parliament. This includes images taken in 2017 – 2018, which capture unusual moments from political life of Moldova, various events and actions carried out in Parliament.

The visitors could watch several screenings of films, reflecting history of Parliament, legislative process and parliamentary activity. At their turn, children have drawn, taken pictures and received small gifts.

The Museum of the Parliament of Moldova was inaugurated on 23 May 2017, at initiative of Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu.

The European Night of Museums is at its 14th issue in 2018, being initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, sponsored by the Council of Europe, UNESCO and International Council of Museums. Up till now, over 3,000 museums from 47 countries have joined this event.
