PM says Moldova willing to create economic model based on import of investments, export of goods

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip has attended today the General Assembly of Moldova's National Confederation of Employers (CNP) – an event that brought together over one hundred representatives of the business environment. The Premier spoke to business people about current priorities of Government, intending further encourage their activity, but also about directions in which efforts are still needed, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Pavel Filip has pointed out that, as he comes from business environment, he knows in detail all problems faced by entrepreneurs. The Prime Minister mentioned of having a permanent communication with entrepreneurs during constant meetings in territory and on the platform of Economic Council, which is due to the achievements reached on segment. "I want to assure you that the voice of the business is heard today," said PM.

The Head of the Executive emphasised that Government's main objective is to ensure predictability and clear rules for entrepreneurs. In this respect, it was specified approval of budget – fiscal policy for three years in 2017. "There is nothing more important for business than to know that they are working in a fair and predictable environment," said Pavel Filip.

The Prime Minister also referred to stabilisation of economy and banking sector, reforms in social and justice spheres, reform of institutions with control functions, reduction of number of permissive acts, simplification of reporting procedure, improvement of Labour Code and reform of Government.

The articipants in discussion appreciated positive developments within recent period, listing segments requiring more attention. Among main issues, there were highlighted lack of workforce, high rate of unofficial economy, need to improve loan terms for economic agents, public procurement legislation, and adoption of pro – business package.

"Everything we do now in Government is to change economic model of Moldova. The economic model based on export of people and import of consumption products is not one that will lead to country's development. That is why reforms are aimed at creating another model, based upon import of goods and export of products ", said Pavel Filip.

The CNP of Moldova includes 27 members, including 15 federations, employers' and professional associations, as well as 12 enterprises from key sectors of the national economy. Totally, the structure represents interests of over 3,000 businesses.
