Over 60 per cent of official reports processed: Andrei Nastase - 52.28 per cent, Ion Ceban - 47.79 per cent

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate on behalf of the Dignity and Truth Platform Political Party, Andrei Nastase, has picked up 52.28 per cent of the votes, and the candidate on behalf of the Party of Socialists Political Party of Moldova, Ion Ceban, got about 47.79 per cent of the suffrages, following the processing of over 60 per cent of the official reports.     

As many as 248,674 persons came to vote in Chisinau, which accounts for almost 39.12 per cent of the voters.

The general mayor elected following the runoff will exercise his powers till the local general polls due in June 2019. The Electoral Code sees that the candidate getting the largest number of votes, no matter the number of electors who took part in the polls, is considered to be elected. If the two candidates pick up an equal number of suffrages, the candidate who got more votes at the first round of the polls is regarded elected.
