People who work or worked after retirement may request reconsideration of pension

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/- The government has approved a draft amendment to some legislative acts, according to which people who work or have worked after retirement under old age may request reconsideration of the pension. Pensioners will have the right to claim the increase only once, provided that “the amount of the re-examined pension is higher than in payment".

Under the draft, in the case of pensions established before the entry into force of these provisions, the review is proposed to be carried out "in relation to the cumulative contribution period after the completion/re-examination of the pension entitlement". Initially, it is proposed to review the pension beneficiaries established before 1 January 1999 who have completed more than 15 years of service after the entitlement to the pension.

Pensions established after 1 January 1999 to 1 January 2019 are to be recalculated in 2021-2027, which are longer than 15 years in 2021 and decreasing to 3 years in 2027, after the entitlement to retirement.

The number of pensioners who would benefit from pension re-examination in 2019 is estimated at about 2,500, and spending over 84 million lei, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. The number of re-examined pensions and expenditures will increase in stages and will reach 130 thousand and 133 million lei in 2027 respectively.
