14:50 | 15.06.2018 Category: Official

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - Ninety three young specialists trained at the Centre of Excellence in Border Security today received their badges of graduates. In a congratulatory message addressed to the future border policemen, the prime minister stressed that the profession they had chosen was one of the most responsible ones, as it consists in ensuring the citizens’ security, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The PM said that almost six million crossings by Moldovan citizens and four million by foreign ones had been recorded in 2017. They were met at the border by professional and receptive employees to people’s needs. “The ensuring of peace and security of citizens is your office record and I know that you do your job with dedication. I know that you bear your uniforms with pride and smile from the bottom of your heart to those who cross the border. You are, with good reason, the visiting card of our country and the image of the state Republic of Moldova,” the prime minister said.

In the context, Pavel Filip highlighted the contribution of the Border Police to getting the liberalized visa regime with EU. In the last four years, almost one million and a half of citizens have benefited from this regime. Another project of major importance is the opening of Moldovan-Ukrainian joint checkpoints, which allowed taking over the control over the Transnistrian segment for the first time since the declaration of Independence. “Moldova must be able to control its entire state border. This is a need, not an option for our country,” Pavel Filip said.

According to the PM, the positive developments recorded in the work of the Border Police are due to the enforcement of the European standards and the best practices in the field of integrated management of the state border. The prime minister awarded two diplomas of the government to employees with special merits in the activity, for the contribution brought to the development of the institution and on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Border Police’s foundation.

“What do you do each day, the dedication with which you work, this is the true patriotism. While some people make statements about love for the motherland, we are just doing our job, with dignity, where we are. And I am sure that together we are able to edify a country in which you will say “safe journey” to our citizens only because they are going on leave, a country in which you will say “welcome” to tourists and investors,” the PM added.

The series of graduates of this year is the tenth one of the Centre of Excellence in Border Security. The Centre is the only vocational education institution of Moldova which trains qualified specialists in the field of supervising and control of the state border.
