Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - The employees from the taxi services sector, who have salaries up to 10,000 lei per month, will pay a fixed tax of 500 lei monthly. Prime Minister Pavel Filip today made statements to this effect after a weekly meeting of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM).

At a news conference, the PM said that the health insurance and the social insurance would be the 12th part of the annual rate.

„At the same time, decision-makers ruled to increase fines in this sector. Thus, if the taxi driver does not give the passenger the payment bill, then the driver will have right not to pay for this travel. Also, the expenses for vehicles’ repair will become deductible. The effect will be more money in the budget, which means financial resources for pensions and salaries will be. We want that people work only legally and professionally in this field. We want to reduce the shadow economy and money to legally come to the budget and the quality of these services to improve,” Pavel Filip said.

The prime minister also said that new ways of taxation would be in the HORECA industry (restaurants, hotels and coffee houses).

„The quota of the value added tax (VAT) will be cut from 20 per cent to 10 per cent. An operational tax of four per cent will be for those with incomes less than 1.2 million lei, while the others, with activities worth more than 1.2 million lei, will have to choose: to work in general regime or in special one. Special regime means a 12–cer cent income tax, compulsory registration as VAT payer and, what is quite important, low 10-per cent VAT quota,” Filip added.
