Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- The routes repaired under the Good Roads for Moldova Program are put into operation only after their quality is verified by the Mobile Laboratory of the State Road Administration (ASD).

In addition to ASD, the quality of the work is also being analyzed by the technical staff, who are on the ground, in each locality every day. Moreover, when all road rehabilitation works are completed in a certain district, they are also checked by the State Construction Inspectorate.

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici said that the Good Roads for Moldova Program was an exam for the institution he is leading, for local authorities and entrepreneurs. "We are aware that this is an unprecedented project. We focused on quality, we went personally and checked each section where problems were reported. We had difficult situations, we had entrepreneurs who did not meet their obligations," he said.

He wants the program to be continued. "I wish that in four years we have 4-5 km of good roads in every village in Moldova, so that the good roads take the children to schools and kindergartens, take the sick or the elderly to the medical institutions etc,” he said.

ASD director-general Gheorghe Curmei said that the rehabilitated routes have one year warranty, and their lifetime is at least 10 years.

Anatol Usatâi, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, said that 2,500 workers, 700 transport units and 15 asphalt plants are involved in road rehabilitation works.

In some districts, such as Basarabeasca and Cimislia, the execution of the works has been suspended due to projects connected to the sewerage network and the aqueduct initiated by the local authorities. Once completed, road asphalting works will be resumed.

Under the Good Roads for Moldova program, launched in March this year by the government, 1,275 km of roads will be rehabilitated in 1,200 localities. For this purpose, 1.6 billion lei were earmarked.
