Moldovan Palace of Republic hosts National Award Gala 2018

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – There took place the Gala of the National Award 2018 at the Palace of the Republic today, dedicated to the 27th anniversary of proclamation of the Independence of Moldova. Its holders became 10 personalities from the fields of science, culture, art, charity and national security.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, MPs, ministers, scientists, persons of culture and art, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau. In his speech, PM Pavel Filip mentioned that the National Award Gala 2018 demonstrates that we have accomplishments in these areas, with which we can pride that our country produces values. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers specified that he is proud being today with such personalities who symbolise performance, work and dedication. "There are people who know with certainty that true love of the country is work and dedication," emphasized PM.

Thus, the well – known director, actor and screenwriter, Viorel Mardare, was nominated as the winner of the National Award for Original Creation in the Art of the Publicistic Film and Promoting the Image of Moldova. In the field of medicine, exceptional work, innovations and research, the awarded was offered to doctors in medical sciences, surgeon Aureliu Batrinac and rheumatologist Liliana Groppa. For contribution to the development of nanotechnologies and promotion of national science abroad was awarded scholar Oleg Lupan. The Dr. habillitat in agriculture, Gheorghe Savin, was awarded for development of the national vineyard fund, and Maria Cristea, a folk craftsman, founder and director of the House of Folk Costume, was appreciated for promoting cultural identity and protecting the national garment.

For the literary work and research in the history of Bessarabia, the award received writer Iurie Colesnic, and for the excellent interpretative art and promotion of the image of Moldova, it was appreciated the baritone, the main soloist of the Bolshei Theatre, Andrei Jilihovschi. In 2018, the prize was also offered for charity. Executive Director of Charity Association MAD – Aid Limited, Victoria Dunford, was awarded for her contribution to projects on inclusion of persons with special needs. The retired brigade general, head of the Moldovan Delegation to the Joint Control Commission, Ion Solonenco, was awarded for promotion of reintegration and security policy of Moldova.

Interviewed by agency, writer Iurie Colesnic said that the award is an act of recognition for writing of ten volumes:  Basarabia necunoscuta (The unknown Bassarabia) and doctor habilitated in medicine, Liliana Groppa, mentioned that the award was offered to healthcare and especially rheumatology, which she has been practicing for over 40 years. Doctor of Medicine, Aureliu Batranac, a cardiovascular surgeon, said that for 30 years he was talking to hearts and learnt a lot of things from sick hearts too. At her turn, the folk craftsman, Maria Cristea, said that in premiere in the history of Moldova a national craftsman is raised to such a rank.

In front of audience, opera singers Andrei Jilihovschi, Natalia Gavrilan, Mariana Bulicanu and Daniel Svet, young violinist Catalin Advahov, young trumpeter Maxim Nichita, etc., accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of National Philharmonic Serghei Lunchevici directed by Artist of the People, Mihail Agafita.

The National Award worth MDL 100,000 is offered annually by the Government as a gratitude for the obtained results in different fields of activity. The selection of winners is done throughout secret vote by a competition commission, led by PM.
