Students enrolled in first year take oath at Medical University of Moldova

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/ – The amount of 760 candidates enrolled in the first year of study at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF)) Nicolae Testemitanu have today taken the Oath of the student, throughout which they have to make every effort to become valuable specialists.

The welcome ceremony took place at the National Palace Nicolae Sulac in Chisinau and started with singing of the state anthem of Moldova. In the first year students were given the white gown, along with other medical symbols, such as the stethoscope and the scalpel, as well as the flame of knowledge.

Rector of USMF Nicolae Testemitanu, Ion Ababii, said that the acquisition of the medical profession "is a lasting marathon" which would require from the new students perseverance, discipline and much work. "The people entrust to the physician all the dearest – life and health, that is why it is attributed enormous responsibility to the training process of medical specialists, out of it is the duration of studies, great amount of information and requirements for the quality of studies, said Ababii.

Minister of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection, Svetlana Cebotari, mentioned at the ceremony that university studies are one of the most important stages of life. "You are the future, and the professionalism of each of you depends the trust and security of citizens," added Cebotari.

There were promoted 760 candidates to USMF Nicolae Testemitanu in 2018, out of which 489 opted for specialty Medicine, 141 – Dentistry, 76 – Pharmacy, 15 – Preventive Medicine, 21 – Optometry, and 18 young persons chose the General Healthcare.
