Moldovan – American trade boosting discussed in Washington

Chisinau, 03 September /MOLDPRES/ – The identification of investment projects and opportunities to boost Moldovan – American trade has been the subject of talks between Ambassador of Moldova to the USA, Cristina Balan, with the First Vice-President of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), Jeffrey Donald.

According to the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service, Ambassador Cristina Balan has encouraged US companies, especially those in the field of information, energy, services, industry and finance, to enter the Moldovan market, which offers preferential conditions to foreign investors.

In this context, Cristina Balan proposed organising high – level meetings, reciprocal visits of entrepreneurs, the conduct of economic forums, B2B events, with the participation of US and Moldovan officials and companies. "We are interested in attracting US investments, particularly in the field of information technology, diversified sources development and energy alternatives for Moldova, transport, light industry and agriculture – these sectors offer increased opportunities for the US business environment", specified Moldovan diplomat.

A special topic during the discussion was the promotion of information about Moldova for the US business environment and expressed the willingness of the US party to facilitate the organisation of actions to promote the products of Moldova both in the virtual space and the real ones.

"We are available to facilitate the promotion of information on government efforts, investment climate and regulatory framework in Moldova, in terms of benefits for business people and the interest of potential US investors," said Jeffrey Donald. It was also agreed to hold a meeting between American businessmen and the official delegation of Moldova at the next UN General Assembly meeting in New York.

The BCIU was established as an initiative of the White House by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Over the years, BCIU has built strong relationships with many foreign governments, agencies and corporations. The organisation has skillfully used its global knowledge and has a broad network of business contacts to facilitate dialogue and initiatives that expand international trade and encourage global economic development.
