Network 5G to be tested in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - The implementation of the 5G technology in Moldova and the contribution of mobile telephony operators to the development of the IT sector was analyzed at a today’s meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Orange Group Ramon Fernandez and Operational Director for Europe Jean-Marc Vignolles, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.         

The representatives of the mobile telephony company referred to their investment plans, with the goal for next year being the testing of the 5G network. Another priority purpose of the company is to develop financial services on mobile phone, which will allow making payments online in Moldova and outside the country, through mobile phones, including the payment of public utilities and making transfers from person to person.    

The PM said the cabinet would stay focused on the creation of an attractive business environment for investments, due to give companies possibility to develop, to bring benefits to citizens and contribute to the country’s economic growth. In this respect, the prime minister touched upon already undertaken measures, among which: cutting the number of permissive acts, modernization of the Labour Code, as well as he implementation of the single window concept. “We work at the government, in order to come up with solutions to the problems faced by business people, so that you have determination to invest in Moldova in continuation,” the prime minister said.    

Also, Pavel Filip reiterated that the IT sector was priority for Moldova, noting that the last decisions by the government, among which also the Law on IT Parks, were meant to give an impetus to the entrepreneurial work on this segment.  

„We appreciate what the cabinet is doing for the business environment. These actions encourage us to come here with new investments,” Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Orange Group Ramon Fernandez said. 

5G is the fifth generation of speed in the mobile telephony, being successor of the 4G technology. Once the new technology implemented, the speed of the data transfer will increase and the response time will be improved.
