Moldovan premier, Cypriot president agreed on areas of cooperation

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- Cyprus firmly supports the European reform agenda of the government and backs Moldova in European integration process. Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades discussed yesterday on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. Filip appreciated Cyprus' experience in promoting reforms and meeting the criteria for joining the European Union, as well as the Cypriot side's willingness to support Moldova in dialogue with European structures, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Also, the prime minister thanked the Cypriot side for supporting the resolution on withdrawal of foreign military forces from Moldova. For his part, the Cypriot president reaffirmed the support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova.

During the talks, the sides examined the possibilities of turning to good account the potential of economic cooperation and drawing Cypriot investments in the economy of our country. Filip called on Cypriot economic agents to invest in the industrial and IT parks in our country, noting the economic progress made by Moldova in recent years and adopting a more favorable legislative framework for investors.

The sides also agreed to boost cooperation in areas such as labor migration, social security, justice, education and health. In this context, Anastasiades appreciated the involvement of the Moldovan diaspora in the social life of the Republic of Cyprus.

At the end of the meeting, Filip invited Anastasiades to pay an official visit to Moldova, the invitation was accepted.
