Jewish history museum to be opened in Chisinau

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- Jewish History Museum will be opened in Chisinau, and national legislation to combating anti-Semitism, intolerance and xenophobia will be improved. Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Ronald Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress, agreed on the matter.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the talks also focused on social policies as regards the protection of Holocaust victims, updating the educational program in Moldova on the issue, as well as the international cooperation in this area.

The sides pointed out the importance of strengthening cooperation between Moldova, USA and Israel, including within the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. In this respect, several actions due to be taken by Chisinau authorities for the preservation of the Jewish heritage in our country were highlighted.

For his part, Lauder thanked the Moldovan government for the good attitude to the Jews. The officials also spoke about the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance programs and their implementation in Moldova.
