Moldovan deputy premier meets special representative of Russia on Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic met special representative of the Russian Federation on Transnistrian settlement Sergey Gubarev on 1 October, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The officials held talks on issues within the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, developments recently recorded in negotiations, and the results achieved in implementing topics set in the Berlin plus package, especially, Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region, agricultural land in Dubasari district, mechanism of access to international road traffic of vehicles from the eastern districts of the country, and the free movement between the two banks of the Dniester.

Referring to issues related to the free movement of pupils and teachers from Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region, the deputy premier insisted that the issue should be implemented in line with the provisions of the protocol decision signed in this respect.

"Children, their parents and teachers of these institutions should have unconditional access and move freely throughout the country. I call for more maturity for Chisinau's initiative to exclude the notification regime for pupils, their parents and teachers from Latin-script schools to be supported," Lesnic said.

In the context of talks on the bridge at Gura Bâcului-Bacioc, the deputy premier drew attention to the indispensability of ensuring free movement for inhabitants and vehicles on both banks of the Dniester, and to the exclusion of the installation of alleged unauthorized customs terminals in Bacioc village.

The official asked for the contribution of the special representative of Russia on Transnistrian settlement to the implementation of free and unconditional movement.

The two officials voiced openness in continuing dialogue and reiterated the need to take positive actions in the interest of the people on both banks of the Dniester.
