Romanian scientist, originating in Moldova, becomes Honorary Member of ASM

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Academy of Sciences of Moldova has awarded today the title of Honorary Member to the Romanian historian and archaeologist, academician Victor Spinei, vice-president of the Romanian Academy, originating in Moldova.

In Laudatio presented on this occasion, the President of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Gheorghe Duca, mentioned that the awarding of this honorary title to academician Victor Spinei is a good opportunity for gratitude to the prodigious activity in the scientific and didactic field and his contribution in the field archeology and Romanian history is truly prolific.

Academician Victor Spinei said that it is an honour for him to get this title, underlining that both Romania and Moldova are confronted with major problems, such as migration, and only together we would be able to overcome these weights.

The historian and archaeologist Victor Spinei was born on 26 October 1943 in commune Lozova, Lapusna county. In 1961 he graduated from High School C. Negruzzi, and in 1966 – the Faculty of History and Philosophy of A.I. Cuza in Iasi. In 2001 he was elected a correspondent member, and on 05 July 2015 – a member of the Romanian Academy. From 27 November 2015, he is Vice President of the Romanian Academy. In 1982 he was awarded the Prize Nicolae Iorga of the Romanian Academy, and in 2017 – with the Order Star of Romania in Knighthood.
