Cyber security is no longer option, but absolute necessity - Moldovan PM says

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova Cyber Week 2018 - an event of utmost importance for the IT sector, has brought together cyber security professionals and people interested in developing the information society. Attending the event, Premier Pavel Filip said that Moldova Cyber Week contributes to the creation of a modern and powerful cyber security system able to cope with the challenges in this sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

“I keep on IT and I think this is a sector in which Moldova needs to invest if it wants economic development. The ICT sector is one of the main promoters of change in the entire society, reaching growth rates of up to 50% annually, " Filip said.

In the context, the prime minister referred to the actions taken by the executive for the development of the information society: implementation of the Digital Moldova 2020 Strategy, reforming the E-Government Center, increasing the competitiveness of the IT industry and creating virtual IT parks.

Also, an Excellence Center has been opened, and the authorities have intervened in the school and university curriculum. In this school year, children in the first grade are already studying digital education. At the same time, in the support of the authorities the Mconet platforms and raportare.gov.md were created. "We are constantly working to make more use of information technologies in our current work. New technologies bring public services to a new level, quality and speed," he said.

At the same time, the premier noted that a permanent concern for the government remains the provision of cyber security, which is also important for every citizen. "Cyber security is no longer an option, but an absolute necessity. This has become a skill that anyone has to learn,” he said.

Cyber-security attacks become a challenge not only for citizens and companies, but also for the authorities.

“Moldova adjusts to global efforts to strengthen cyber security, and in this area work is done with dedication and responsibility. We will continue to advance in taking experience and standards of cyber security, being aware that only in this way we can keep up with the evolution of information technologies ", he said.
