Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The ombudswoman for the protection of child’s rights, Maria Banarescu, presented information on the subject of involvement of pupils from a Chisinau-based lyceum in adults’ activity of conveying messages in the parliament’s plenum today.
The ombudswoman was called to parliament at an initiative by the lawmakers of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM). The MPs were discontented by the fact that, on 18 October 2018, more pupils from the Lucian Blaga lyceum of Moldova’s capital mimed that they demand that the authorities return the Turkish citizens to Moldova. Some people played the part of accused persons. Thus, during half an hour, the pupils stayed with bags on their heads and with ropes at necks.
”I welcome this invitation by the lawmakers, as this is a very important topic, a macabre and negative action, in which children were involved, without parents’ agreement. I will notify the Prosecutor General’s Office to consider the actions and competence of the adults who organized this activity,” Banarescu said.
According to the ombudswoman, the lyceum’s administration was sanctioned and a psychologist will work with the children involved in the action.
After a Question & Answer session, the MPs recommended that the ombudswoman for the protection of child’s rights further monitors the observance of the legal norms in force and requests, if necessary, the amendment of the legislation on the protection of child’s rights.
