Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/- For the holidays this year, the state forestry institutions will propose for trade 64,000 trees (up by 6,000 against 2017). At the same time, 8,500 compositions of tree will be proposed. A larger number of trees will be offered by the forestry enterprises from Edinet, Calarasi, Chisinau and Nisporeni.

Sources in the Moldsilva Agency said that, as a rule, nursery employees cut trees depending on the number ordered. "The main applicants are state and private institutions that buy more, and private people also order Christmas trees. However, the trees are cut when the sale-purchase contract is already completed. Thus, we avoid the losses, and unused trees grow in nurseries in the expectation of other holidays ", sources said.

In the case of illegal cutting of trees from forestry or other green areas, private people are fined 40 to 50 conventional units, and legal entities - 400-500 conventional units or unpaid community work under Article 122, 124 of the Contravention Code of Moldova, and payment of the damage caused by the illicit cutting of trees and plantations, according to the Forest Code.

Traditionally, during this period, forest protection is increased, raids being systematically organized in the forestry fund, involving forestry collaborators and the Environmental Protection Inspectorate and the territorial police inspectorates.
