Farmers to receive grants to improve access to outlets

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/- The World Bank project -Competitive Agriculture in Moldova (MAC-P) launched a new grant call to facilitate domestic producers' access to outlets. Applications may be submitted until 31 January 2019 and repayable financing can be up to 350,000 dollars.

The support takes place under the Investment Grants Program "Facilitating access to outlets and is being carried out jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM), the Agricultural Intervention and Payment Agency, continuing financing agricultural producer groups.

Minister Nicolae Ciubuc announced the launch of the seventh grant call to facilitate access to outlets. He spoke about the results of MADRM in 2018 and priorities for 2019.

“Although the year 2018 was complicated, especially from an institutional point of view, we had many promising successes. All these results make us optimistic and offer ambitious goals for the coming year. Thus, in 2019, we will continue to comply with the Association Agreement with the EU, promote reforms, facilitate access to new markets, increase the competitiveness of the agro-industrial sector by investing in post-harvest infrastructure, and so on,” he said.

To qualify for a grant, producer groups must be composed of at least five members with individual activity of at least three years in the horticultural sector or one year in the livestock sector and to provide co-financing of at least 50% of the value of the costs. Documents shall be submitted to the territorial offices of the Agricultural Intervention and Payment Agency.
