Over 625 million lei provided to farmers as subsidies by late 2018

Chisinau, 2 January /MOLDPRES/- Over 625 million lei was provided to farmers in the country as subsidies by late 2018. The money was earmarked for more than 4,300 files, out of the 7,400 submitted last year.

Most grant applications aimed at boosting investments for purchase of agricultural technology, encouraging commercial banks’ lending to farmers, setting up multiannual plantations and livestock farms equipment.

According to the Agency for Agriculture Intervention and Payments, the most active districts in terms of grant applications were Cahul, Comrat and Hancesti, and the fewest cases were filed in Balti and Chisinau. The highest amount applied for was recorded in Cahul district, amounting to about 63.5 million lei for 506 requests, followed by Comrat district with about 53.8 million lei.

The total value of the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development for 2018 amounted to 900 million lei.
