Chisinau, 4 January /MOLDPRES/ - The right to the monthly child care allowance till the age of three years will be provided to the insured person at choice. The legislative amendments to this end were published in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.

Under the draft, two options are proposed for providing the monthly allowance for bringing up the child. The first variant sees that the payment be offered starting the date of providing the leave till the date when the child turns three and the second option stipulates that the allowance be paid till the child turns two years.

The monthly quantum of the allowance for bringing up the child, in the first case, will account for 30 per cent of the calculation basis for each child, but not less than the quantum of the minimum monthly allowance and will be paid three years. For the payment of the allowance, in a two-year period, the latter will be paid 60 per cent of the calculation basis till the child’s one-year age and 30 per cent of the calculation basis will be paid subsequently.

The option initially requested for setting the allowance for bringing up the child could not be changed afterwards.

The amendments see that, if the child’s mother or father (beneficiaries of the allowance) get employed, resume the working activity or leave the job before the child care leave ends, the payment of the monthly allowance is not suspended till the expiration of this leave.

The same issue of the Official Journal contains the Moldovan president’s decree on the promulgation of the new provisions. The legislative amendments enter into force on 1 July 2019.
