Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - Over 220 pupils from three districts of Moldova today missed classes because of a failure of the buses which were to carry the children to education institutions. The head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Mihail Harabagiu, today made statements to this effect at a meeting of the crisis cell, organized in the context of the heavy snowfall.

According to Harabagiu, the pupils who did not go to school today are from the districts of Nisporeni, Calarasi and Hancesti.

„The pupils did not go to the education institutions because of the technical state of the transport means which were to carry them to school. The children are at home. At the same time, the children who went to school must return home safely; therefore, the school buses will be monitored, in order to avoid blockage on roads,’’ Harabagiu noted.

Data unveiled at the meeting shows that there are no blocked roads in the country. In the central zone, especially on the road segment Troita Noua (Anenii Noi district), the access to high-tonnage vehicles is restricted, in order to avoid the blockage of the road. Also in order to avoid the blockage of vehicles, the movement of high-tonnage vehicles to Leuseni is restricted.

The Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions remains valid for today. According to meteorologists, heavy snowfall is forecast, with snowstorm in some regions, snow drifts on roads, sleet and silver thaw is to accumulate on electric wires and branches. The north-western wind will gust to 15/20 metres/second.
