Chisinau-based Mihai Eminescu National Theatre makes tour to two cities of Romania

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Mihai Eminescu National Theatre makes a tour to Iasi and Bucharest on 21-27 January.    

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the aforementioned theatre, Petru Hadarca, said that this tour was taking place within the sixth issue of the project titled, Romanian Theatre in Bucharest, Iasi and Chisinau.

”On 22 January, we will play the performance Sfatul Tarii (Country Council) in Iasi, made according to a scenario by Mariana Onceanu-Hadarca (Chisinau) and Cristian Hadji-Culea (Iasi); on 23 January – the play The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov and on 24 January – the play, The Carnival, by I.L. Caragiale. On 26 January, the audience is waiting for us at the National Theatre from Bucharest, where we will present also The Carnival and on Sunday, 27 January - The Cherry Orchard in the same hall. In next February, we will play for the audience from Chisinau,” Petru Hadarca noted.   

According to Hadarca, the first performance of the play, Sfatul Tarii, made by the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre from Iasi and Mihai Eminescu National Theatre from Chisinau, stage management by Cristian Hadji-Culea and Petru Hadarca, took place in Iasi on 30 December 2018.   

This is the second co-production made along with a theatre from Romania; the first one was the one from 22 November from Chisinau, when the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre and the National Theatre from Targu Mures (Liviu Rebreanu company) presented the first performance of the play, Miss Liberty – The Last Madrigal, by Mircea M. Ionescu, stage management by Elemer Kincses.  

The play was made with the support of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and National Identity, within the Centenary Programme. It will be presented in Chisinau on 27-30 March, within the tour, Romanian Theatre in Bucharest, Iasi and Chisinau.

The project, Romanian Theatre in Bucharest, Iasi and Chisinau, was launched in 2014 and is the most comprehensive cultural exchange between theatres from Moldova and Romania.
