Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/- Children who have impaired vision, hearing or physical disabilities will be able to attend sports groups. However, the number of pupils from villages, included in groups for summer sports camps, will be increased from 10 to 14. These provisions are set in the new Regulation on organizing and functioning of sports schools, approved by the government today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Another issue sees that the sports schools will begin the academic year on 1 September, and not 1 January as it is today. At the same time, age of entry for many categories of sports, including gymnastics, football, wrestling, basketball and tennis will be reduced. For example, in gymnastics girls will be accepted from 5-7 years and not 6-8 years, as it is now, and the boys will be admitted to football from 7-9 years instead of 8-10 years as it is now.

The regulation also provides for the introduction of new subjects, such as beach football, biathlon, hockey, football-tennis, wrestling and racing.

To assess the performances of the best athletes at international level and their inclusion in the national team, there will be taken into account the World Games and Youth Olympic Games - competitions that previously were not in the list of official competitions. Also, performance athletes, winners of national championships and official international competitions will be able to continue training in Advanced groups after the age of 21, now it is 20 years.

There are 93 sports schools and six sports high schools in Moldova.
