About 2 million ballots to be printed for polling stations abroad

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/- About 2 million ballots will be printed for polling stations abroad for parliamentary elections and advisory referendum on 24 February.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), of the total number of bullots, 1,617,800 copies will be in Romanian and 363,400 copies in Russian.

The ballot papers will be distributed to the uninominal constituency councils, and then they will be sent to the electoral bureaus of the polling stations set outside the country. The CEC will send the ballots at least three days before the election. Their number will be up to 5,000 for each polling station.

At the same time, 200 ballots will be forwarded to the polling stations opened in Beijing, the People's Republic of China; Tokyo, Japan - 250 ballots; Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan – 2,000; Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria – 3,000; Riga, Republic of Latvia - 450 and Vilnius, Lithuania – 1,200 ballots. The number of ballots was determined by taking account voter turnout in the 2016 presidential election.

For the parliamentary elections in 2014, a total print run of 257,500 ballots was set for foreign polling stations, and for the runoff of the presidential election in 2016 - 288,850 copies.

For the parliamentary elections and the consultative referendum on 24 February, 125 polling stations were set outside Moldova.
