National library's employees train almost 650 librarians in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ – Almost 650 librarians from all over Moldova were trained in 2018 by the National Library (BNM) staff at the Centre for Continuing Vocational Training in the Library and Information Sciences (CFCBSI). 

During the 1st issue of the BNM Trainers' Gala, 17 employees of the institution, who for one and a half years have been trained in the above-mentioned Centre, received today certificates of merit and diplomas "for the special contribution to continuous professional training library specialists, while the trainer of the year was named Diana Silvestru.

Interviewed by agency, BNM Director, Elena Pintilei, has mentioned that with the entry into force of the Law on Libraries, the institution has deepened its role as a national library centre and will contribute to the formation and development of the professional skills of employees not only from 1,300 of public libraries Moldova, but of all about 4,000 libraries within the national system of libraries.

According to the cited source, the BNM Trainers' Gala aims to stimulate the continuous professional training of librarians' specialists, as well as to present the impact of instructing of trainers. The educational activities of the trainers will take place within the CFCBSI, but there will also take place activities in the territory.

The Director of the CFCBSI, Ludmila Corghenci, stated that the librarian is the representative of that profession, who may have the most to learn and learn not only for himself but for the visitors of libraries. "In the last period, the BNM has invested much to create a team of trainers who could go to the territory, but also here in the functional space of the Centre, organise educational activities according to the needs of librarians. These activities will be carried out on the basis of some analysis and studies that will be carried out on the specialised staff, because you have to give the man what he needs," said Ludmila Corghenci.

The Centre for Continuing Vocational Training in the Library and Information Sciences was set up in 2017. In 2015, with the support of the Novateca Programme, it was opened the Centre for Statistics, Research and Development (CSCD) within the BNM.
