Moldovan authorities rule to maintain alert regime concerning influenza

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Commission for Emergency Situations at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) today ruled to maintain the intensive regime of providing medical assistance to persons sick with flu and the medical sorting in kindergartens and schools.    

The head of the information and communication service at the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP), Olesea Croitor, said that the participants in the meeting of the commission had ruled to maintain the intensive regime of providing medical assistance to people ill with influenza, with hospitalization and treatment according to the clinical protocols. Also, decision-measures will enhance measures to early discover persons with symptoms compatible with flu.    

According to Croitor, in continuation, decision-makers will monitor and complete the stock of medicines in medical and sanitary institutions, including antiviral preparations, consumable things and equipments necessary for medical care and infections’ control. At the same time, the carrying out of the medical sorting in pre-school and university institutions will be maintained this week too, with parents holding at home children with acute respiratory diseases and fever.   

ANSP’s data shows, since the beginning of the cold season, 27 people have died of influenza. The institution informed that most deaths had occurred as a result of the late appealing to medical assistance at the family physician, in unvaccinated people and because of complications combined with other chronic diseases.
