Roadmen intervene on roads from Moldova following last precipitation

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ - Roadmen have intervened on national roads through patrol works and fighting the glazed frost, following the precipitation from the last hours. Decision-makers give assurances that, at present, all national roads are accessible and the transport means’ movement takes place in winter conditions. 

The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry said that 36 special vehicles had been involved in the technological process and 221 tons of antiskid material had been used since today morning.   

According to the State Administration of Roads (ASD), the cyclone of precipitation in form of rain, which turned into sleet and snow, covered all northern region and partially the central Moldova. The head of the ASD operative service, Sergiu Capatina, told MOLDPRES that the concerned cyclone had covered the districts of Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Rascani, Donduseni, Soroca, Floresti and Rezina. Presently, the precipitation is extended to the central and southern regions of the country, with its quantity being insignificant.    

In these conditions, pedestrians and drivers are warned to be prudent in traffic, reduce the speed, strictly observe the traffic regulations, road signs and not set out unequipped.  

In a warning issued for drivers, the National Patrol Inspectorate said that the rain can turn into sleet and the roadway can be slippery. Patrol officers recommend that drivers increase the safety distance in movement, use lower beams, avoid overtakings in traffic, make sure that the windscreen, lateral windows and the stay provide a very good visibility, be sure that the wind-screen wipers, the conditioning installation are in a good state and have their vehicles equipped with winter tyres.    

At the same time, pedestrians are warned to cross the street only in signaled places or at the street corner and in no way in front or behind standing vehicles.
