Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/- An agricultural producer in the Transnistrian region will be able to expand vegetable sales on the right bank of the Dniester, thanks to the modern sorting, cleaning and packaging equipment purchased with the support of a US-supported project. The cost of modern equipment is estimated at about 445 thousand lei.

This is the Grecu family business in the Ternovca village, Slobozia district. The company produces open-field vegetables and markets carrots, potatoes, red beets, onions, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, broccoli, white cabbage, cauliflower and sells them fresh.

In 2017, the Grecu family decided to invest in the construction of a refrigerated warehouse of about 3000 tons to keep vegetables for a long time, offering high quality buyers until the spring months.

Thus, from own resources and loans, the company managed to build a cold store and a hall for sorting and packing vegetables. The project of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Performing Agriculture in Moldova, through a grant, contributed to the procurement of the equipment.

The USAID Project aims to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in 2016-2021 to boost economic growth and change in rural areas, enhancing the welfare of our country's inhabitants.
