Women represent on quarter of new Moldovan parliament's lawmakers

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty six women will act as lawmakers in the Moldovan parliament of the tenth legislative period, with the share of women MPs standing at 25.7 per cent.  

The average age of the new parliament’s lawmakers is of 48 years and each third MP is jurist. The senior of the lawmakers, just as in the previous legislative period, is Eduard Smirnov, who is to turn 80 this year. At the same time, the youngest MP is Dinu Plingau, - 24 years old.       

Among the lawmakers of the parliament of the tenth legislative period, there are teachers, engineers, historians, physicians, journalists, agronomists, managers. An architect, a diplomat, a military, as well as a specialist in dramatic arts will work in the new parliament too.    

All MPs of the newly elected parliament have higher education and 43.5 per cent of them have master education. One parliamentarian holds even the title of academician.  

The parliament of the tenth legislative period was set up following the parliamentary polls held on 24 February 2019.
