Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/ – The current state of relations between Moldova and Ghana, including political dialogue and commercial and economic cooperation, were discussed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, during the meeting with the approved Ambassador of Ghana in Moldova, residing in Moscow, Oheneba Dr. Lesley Akyaa Opoku – Ware, who presented copies of his credentials, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.

Minister Tudor Ulianovschi informed the Ghanaian diplomat about the Moldovan Government's decision to open an Embassy in Ghana (Accra city), which will be the first diplomatic mission of Moldova on the African continent. In the opinion of the head of Moldovan diplomacy, this step would provide Moldova with substantial advantages and new, more effective, bilateral cooperation opportunities not only with Ghana but also with other African states.

By urging him to serve as Ambassador, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi assured Oheneba Dr. Lesley Akyaa Opoku – Ware of full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) in carrying out his work in Moldova.

At his turn, the Ghanaian accredited ambassador in Moldova has mentioned that the authorities of Accra appreciate the decision of the Government of Moldova to open a diplomatic mission, considering that this will provide new opportunities for intensifying the bilateral dialogue directly between both states in various international organisations, in particular through support from 55 member states of the African Union (AU).

Tudor Ulianovschi and Oheneba Dr. Lesley Akyaa Opoku – Ware said that the two states belong to the Francophonie area, which creates favourable terms for boosting Moldovan – Ghanaian cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
