Eastern Moldova town hosts festival of brass band music

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - „Răsună fanfare peste hotare” (Brass Bands Sing Abroad) is the title of a brass band music festival, held in the eastern Anenii Noi town on 8 May. This year, the event is at its fifth issue and brought together tens of bands and instrumentalists from all over Moldova.  

„We can say that this festival has become a cross-border one, as this year as well, it has managed to exceed the borders and bring together in the same place brass bands from various regions of Moldova and from abroad. We had professional bands, of amateurs, of adults and children, keeping alive the memory of the co-founder of the festival, Grigore Zanoaga,” sources of the culture department at the Anenii Noi district council have said.  

"This year issue distinguished itself through a large number of participants, their interesting performance, as well as surprises prepared by organizers,” musicians of the orchestra from Zaim (Causeni) said. This year, fanfare orchestras from the counties of Vaslui and Galati (Romania) participated in the festival for the first time ever and thus a cultural exchange between the two banks of Prut was made. Traditionally, brass bands from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz-Yeri, the districts of Causeni, Drochia, Soroca, Cimislia, Soldanesti, Sangerei, Leova, Ialoveni, Orhei, Chisinau municipality were present at the event. The model orchestra of the Department of Carabineers Troops and the Fanfare of the Interior Ministry’s Border Police performed as honorary guest. Composer Eugen Doga also attended the festival and appreciated the idea and level of the event’s organization.        

The director of the festival and contest, Brass Bands Sing Abroad, Vasile Morosanu, said that this event had managed to become a visiting card of the district, contributing to the turning to good account and promotion of the aerophone music. This festival is organized by the culture and tourism department of the Anenii Noi district council, under the aegis of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry. Eighteen brass bands and more than 500 instrumentalists took part in the event this year.
