Moldova's Agency of Intervention and Payment for Agriculture authorizes for payment subsidies worth about 65 million lei for farmers

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency of Intervention and Payment for Agriculture (AIPA) so far has accepted files submitted by 440 farmers, who will receive subsidies for developing agricultural businesses worth 64.4 million lei. In all, the Agency received 887 applications for financial support, by almost ten per cent more against the number of files received on the same period of the year before.  

Most applications on subsidization are the procurement of agricultural technology and equipment. In this respect, according to the situation from mid-May, AIPA authorized for payment 272 files amounting to about 28 million lei for the purchasing of 790 units of advanced agricultural technology and equipment. Farmers also demand subsidization of investments for the development of post-harvesting and processing infrastructure. On top, there are also the subsidies for the foundation, modernization of multiannual plantations and deforestation of non-productive ones. 

At the same time, five per cent of the national fund for development of agriculture and rural environment, which accounts for about 45 million lei, is annually directed for providing subsidies in advance to young people and young women farmers, which begin startup projects for the first time ever. This year, already 21 farmers beginners have started businesses, with an investment plan worth more than 18 million lei, which will generate over 70 jobs.

In 2019, the national fund for the development of agriculture and rural environment amounts to about 900 million lei.

In 2018, AIPA received 7,417 applications on asking for financial support for 4,411 small farmers, worth more than one billion lei. As a result of the subsidies demanded, decision-makers were able to attract investments worth about six billion lei into the agro-industrial sector, as well as to related sectors, which is by 15 per cent more against the investments made by farmers in 2017. The investments made led to the creation of 4,635 new jobs.
