Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today visited the villages of Donici, Camencea and Samananca from the central Orhei district, hit by floods. People say that they have never seen such rains and the rain water entered their homes, cellars, destroyed farmlands and roads, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Eighty plots of land, 18 houses and several road segments were hit by the heavy rainfall in Donici and Camencea. The damages amount to half a million of lei. At the same time, in Samananca, seven gardens and more road segments were destroyed, with the damages estimated at 500,000 lei.

The PM said the decision-makers from the Commission for Emergency Situations were assessing the damages recorded in the Moldovan settlements in the wake of the heavy rains from this month, in order to provide assistance to the localities hit. “Decision-takers from the Commission for Emergency Situations moved on the spot just on the first day; assessed the losses. All documents are prepared and at the next cabinet meeting, we will approve the allocation of aid for the settlements hit,” Pavel Filip said. Preliminary calculations show that the size of this assistance will amount to about one million lei in the villages Donici, Camencea and Samananca from the Orhei district.

The prime minister today discussed with residents of the Teleseu village, where a water tower has been recently made available for use after repair. Thus, 240 households from this settlement, as well as the kindergarten, school and the health centre will enjoy running water. As much as 250,000 lei was allocated for the repair of the water tower. Presently, the entire settlement has access to water. The PM stressed that people’s supply with quality water was a priority of the government and more than 100,000 persons will be connected to water supply in 2019, twice as much against the year before.

Pavel Filip also visited a cattle farm from Pocsesti – a ten-million-lei-worth investment of a family which worked abroad and ruled to invest the money earned in its own business. There are nine employees at the enterprise, who take care of 100 Holstein cows. In the last years, the entrepreneurs have received about three million lei subsidies on behalf of the state. The prime minister discussed with the entrepreneurs the farm’s work, problems faced and possibilities to solve them.
