Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/- The hydrological center of the State Hydrometeorological Service issued today a warning indicating the increase of the water level in the Dniester River between Dubasari, Bender and Talmaza.

The Hydrological Center warns that on 24-30 May, in Dubasari-Bender sector of the Dniester River, water level will increase by 2.8-3.3 meters. During the same period, in Bender - Talmaza sector, the water level in the Dniester will increase by 1.5 - 2.5 meters.

According to hydrologists, in these regions the water will flow out into the meadow.

The increase of the water level in this sector is related to the decision of the administration of the Dubasari hydro power plant to increase the volume of water discharging from Dubasari reservoir to 1100 m3 / s.

The situation is also aggravated by heavy rains in Ştefan Vodă district, especially in the localities of the Dniestre river. Because of the rains of the last few days, there is the risk of failure of dams in the area.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip summoned a meeting yesterday on the risk of floods after heavy rains in Stefan Voda district. He noted it is very important that risk situations should be prevented. He ordered the creation of a crisis cell that would effectively manage and coordinate the situation. For the repair and reinforcement of the protection dams, the necessary forces from the army and carabineer were also mobilized. In all, about 300 people will be mobilized: soldiers, carabineers, foresters, builders and more than 10 units of special equipment.
