All contracts for implementing Programme Good Roads for Moldova 2 to be signed till late next June

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) has announced that by late June, there will be signed all contracts for 32 lots under Programme Good Roads for Moldova 2. The National Programme's state of implementation of the has been discussed today at a meeting convened by the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici.

"We have all the confidence that we will be able to complete successfully this project, because 2018 was one in which we have gained experience, we have learnt several lessons, and that will help us to be more efficient and competitive in the future works under Programme Good Roads for Moldova 2, said Minister Chiril Gaburici.

According to the State Road Administration's (ASD) info and media communication service, out of total 32 lots, there are 24 auctions underway now, of which 5 are in the bid to be signed and 19 are in relict. The businessmen need time to learn the new document filing procedures, there are also deficiencies in the collection of company documents, and last but not least – lack of competition, this is the mode explains ASD director, Gheorghe Curmei, the reluctance reasons.

"Commencing 07 June, the 19 batches begin to be relived, and the latest ones are scheduled for 22 – 23 June. In late June, we plan to sign the contracts for all 32 lots under Programme Good Roads for Moldova 2, said the head of ASD.

In upcoming week, it will start the repair works in districts Ungheni, Leova, Hancesti, Cantemir and Calarasi, where there were concluded the contract signing procedures.

Also, Gheorghe Curmei announced that there are delays in completing the documentation from local public authorities (ALP), Gagauzia and Balti municipality have so far failed to identify the road sectors to be repaired under the Programme.

In 2019, there are to be built almost 2,600 km of road, by 1,000 km more than in 2018, with a budget exceeding MDL 2.7 billion.
