Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/- A number of 13 women and young farmers will receive subsidies in advance worth eight million lei (over 400 thousand euros) for business development in agriculture. Applications were submitted during the third stage of receiving the dossiers for subsidies in advance.

The Agency for Intervention and Payment for Agriculture said that the projects aim to make investments in the agricultural sector of over 11 million lei and create over 50 new jobs.

Most projects aim at upgrading multi-annual plantations. Specifically, five grant applicants plan investments to set up multiannual plantations on an area of about 16 ha.

At the same time, three new businesses in the zootechnical field will be developed with state support. Farmers have also requested advance subsidies for the production of vegetables and fruits on sheltered land, and three greenhouses with a total area of 1.8 ha will be built. Two other investment objects provide for the development of post-harvest and processing infrastructure.

Of the total of 13 cases, eight were filed by women and five others - by young people.

This year, for the payment of advance payments, 45 million lei were allocated from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Subsidies in advance can be provided based on investment projects submitted by young farmers and women farmers who perform an economic activity in the agricultural sector for the first time. The total value of the proposed project must not exceed one million lei. 65 per cent of the size of expenditure provided by the project will be covered by the state, and another 35 per cent will be invested by the author of the idea.
