Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended the Yellow Code of atmospheric instability till 20 June.

According to meteorologists, thunderstorm rains, heavy ones in some regions (15-45 litres per one square metre) are forecast on the aforementioned period, with hail and strong wind gusting to 15-20 metres/second.

Heat will maintain in the next 24 hours, yet without a reason to issue a warning of canicular day. Thus, maximal air temperatures up to +32 Celsius degrees are expected on 20 June during the day and up to +21 degrees at night.

A Yellow Code of local sub-flooding was announced till next Thursday. Given the forecast of heavy rainfall, the SHS Hydrological Centre warned that, on the concerned period, the water level would increase by 0.5-1 metre in small rivers. At the same time, intensive drainings on slopes are possible, with risk of local sub-flooding.

In the context, the local authorities, economic agents owning reservoirs are warned to check the state of dams, bridges and ways of water’s evacuation.

In case of yellow code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast (thunderstorm rains, wind gusting, high or low air temperatures, risk of increase in the flow and level of rivers and small rivers, etc.) are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, they may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
