Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - The term in which a father of a newly born child can submit application for the providing of father’s allowance has been extended up to 12 months after the child’s birth. The amendment enters into force on 1 July 2019.

So far, fathers have been able to ask for father’s allowance in a period of 30 days after the submission of the application for providing the paternity leave, from which the father could benefit in the first 56 days after the child’s birth.

According to the National Social Insurances House (CNAS), the paternal allowance is paid once for the entire period, through the providers of payment services nominated. The calculation basis of the allowances represents 100 per cent of the monthly average income.

The fathers insured in the public system of social insurances, employed based on the individual labour contract or in employment relationship based on the administrative act, can benefit from allowance. For this, the applicant must confirm the total length of pensionable service of at least three years or at least nine years in the last 24 months before the date of child’s birth. Also, the applicant should confirm that he had an insured income in the last three months before the month of the child’s birth and paternity leave was provided to him at all units where he works in the first 56 days after the date of the child’s birth.

The applications can be submitted online or to the territorial social insurances houses.
