New head of central electoral commission elected in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ – Dorin Cimil has been elected head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). The decision has been taken on Friday, 19 July, at the meeting of CEC, with the vote of 07 members out of 09. The voting procedure was secret.

The candidacy of Dorin Cimil was submitted by member of CEC, Vladimir Sarban, which has chaired CEC's meeting today.

Also, deputy head of CEC was elected Vladimir Sarban, with 08 vote of CEC members. CEC secretary will be held by Maxim Lebedinschi, after Veaceslav Agrigoroae has submitted his resignation today.

The new leadership has been elected after CEC's former head, Alina Russu, resigned. Subsequently, deputy head of CEC, Rodica Ciubotaru and, CEC member, Iurie Ciocan, left office.

Instead, the Parliament called last week 03 new members. These ones are a lawyer proposed by DA Platform, Pavel Dumitru, associate professor, PhD in law, Dorin Cimil, proposed by PAS and advisor of President Igor Dodon in legal field, Maxim Lebedinschi, proposed by PSRM.
