Over 80 enterprises from Moldova's rural regions to get financing from EU

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union will provide support to 81 enterprises from Moldova’s rural regions. The sum of the grants amounts to 11.02 million lei, which will favour investments worth about 15.4 million lei in the national economy.    

The participants in a meeting of the committee on supervising the pilot programme Women in Business, recently held at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, considered and approved 81 investment projects out of those 151 ones registered at the contest. They are part of the third Appeal of investment projects financed by the European Union.   

The companies’ activity sectors are diverse: 51 per cent of the enterprises will deal with providing of services and namely education and entertainment services for children, providing of cosmetic services, decoration services and events’ organization; 39 per cent of the companies work in the industrial sector and will make clothes for children, women and men, will fabricate frozen goods, gems, pastry products and ten per cent of the enterprises are from the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors, with the basic activities being bee-keeping, growing nuts, growing and germination of barley.    

Also, entrepreneurs whose investment projects are innovative, based on the fabrication of mixtures of flour without gluten, processing of teas and natural condiments, making hats, services of organizing tourist routes, fabrication of manually painted clothes, etc. will receive financial support as well.  

“The Women in Business programme has an important impact for the Moldovan society: on the one hand, it gives possibility to persuade and encourage women to start their own business and on the other hand – we prove the multiplying effect, both economic and social, in the rural zones. I would like more and more women to start prosperous, sustainable businesses, due to contribute to economic growth and to the creation of jobs in rural regions. Besides the newly created jobs, the residents from the rural zones will have access to new services and products, qualitative and innovative,” the state secretary general at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Iulia Costin, said.   

The companies which are to get support on behalf of the European Union will contribute to the creation of hundreds of new jobs.
