Schools to benefit from education grants in 05 districts of Moldova

Chisinau, 05 August /MOLDPRES/ – Fifteen schools in districts Cahul, Orhei, Rezina, Falesti and Ungheni will receive minigrants to promote healthcare education in community. The donation is part of the programme of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for promotion of youth healthcare education, carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), AO Partnerships for Every Child and PRO DIDACTICA Education Centre.
The activities will take place in August – September 2019 and involve community mobilisation to promote healthcare education for young people. They come to support campaign: Healthcare Education – My Right, My Choice, launched in 2018 and continued in 2019.
The first action, a thematic debate club, will take place in locality Frasinesti, Ungheni district. Similar activities: exhibitions of pictures, contests, social theatre, flash mobs, painting of public spaces, etc. are to be organised in other 14 localities.
The healthcare education is an optional subject and it is taught to pupils in forms I – XII based upon request. In school year 2018 – 2019, over 19,000 teenagers asked to learn this subject, which constitutes 10 per cent of the total number of children who need such info.
Starting with 2018, 37 localities from the districts of Cahul, Orhei, Rezina, Falesti and Ungheni participate in the mentioned campaign, comprising over 5,600 persons – parents, teachers, young people, representatives of local authorities, other members of community.
